Diversified contractors working on roof removal.

No more water will be seeping into the Historic Buxton Bank building now that the roofing phase of the renovation has been completed.

Hepper Olson said that once the ceiling tiles were removed during phase one they [Buxton in Bloom] knew that more than a new skin had to be added to the roof. A structural engineer was called in to ensure that nothing had to be done to reinforce the building because of the poor condition of the ceiling joists.

“He [the engineer] didn't see any problem that needed to be address immediately, so we progressed only after the money was in place. This portion ended up a bit over budget because we needed to repair some of the mortar between the stones as we replaced all the ceiling joists,” she said.

This phase isn't all complete. Additional repair to the mortar and capping the exterior masonry wall needs to be done during this phase.
