The rehabilitation of the granite bank building in Buxton was separated into four separate phases. Phase one is complete and phase two is well underway with the completion of the roofing rehab. When phase two is complete the building will be completely weather tight. Phase three will include an addition to the back of the building that will house the toilet facilities and a community meeting room. Also within this phase a new floor will be put back in and all the electrical, heating and partition walls will be done. Phase four will finish the project by re-installing the refurbished historic fixtures and moldings.
The total budget for the project was $200,000. Construction costs to date have been approximately $60,000.
We have been pretty successful with our grant applications and individual donors have stepped up when we've needed them to. We are at a point where our focus needs to be on raising more funds and getting more people interested and involved.
